The Karnataka High Court, by its judgment dated 8 July 2026, dismissed an appeal filed by an iron ore exporter seeking refund of service tax paid on transportation charges. 

The Court held that the "pay slips" issued by individual truck owners contained all the essential attributes of consignment notes under the Finance Act, 1994
