IT Act Practise Requirement upheld

The Madras High Court held that while a person possessing the prescribed educational qualification is entitled to act as an authorised representative under the Income Tax Act, registration as an Income Tax Practitioner is governed by a separate statutory scheme requiring at least one year of practice before the Income Tax Authorities. 

The Court upheld the validity of this distinction and dismissed the writ petition.
