Executive Summary
The India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signifies a critical milestone in the relationship between two economies. As part of India's strategic plan to forge progressive trade alliances with key international allies, this FTA resonates with India's vision of evolving into a prominent manufacturing and services center on the global stage.
Moreover, it positions India to leverage amplified entry into UK markets post-Brexit, underscoring mutual benefits for both nations.
Caveat
The full text of the FTA signed is still not available in public domain. There are two PIB releases from India side and a summation document from the UK side. This note therefore is based on the three and a crystallised snapshot on who benefits and to what extent, what would be the Tariff rate quota and what would be the tariff elimination can be set out only when the full FTA documents with the annexures is released.
