Google AdWords Payments Not Liable for TDS under Section 194J

The Hyderabad Bench of the ITAT has held that payments made to Google India for advertising through the Google AdWords platform constitute advertising contracts covered by Section 194C and not fees for technical services under Section 194J. 

Accordingly, the Tribunal upheld TDS deduction at 2% and deleted the demand raised for alleged short deduction of tax.
