Customs Tariff Values Retained

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Notification No. 54/2026-Customs (N.T.) revising the tariff value notification framework under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. 

While the notification formally substitutes the existing tariff value tables for specified commodities, it does not alter the prevailing tariff values for any of the covered goods. 

The notification effectively continues the existing tariff valuation regime for edible oils, precious metals, brass scrap and areca nuts with effect from 12 June 2026.
